Not a huge fan of what Slash did with the Perhaps solo but I actually hope he does replace Brian Mays solo on this if it does come out. I think i'm in the minority that i really like this song, but the solo is a bit bland for me.
The tom drums however sound fucking incredible
Brain is a monster. Anyone remember fans getting on him for fucking up the ycbm intro?
This guy had someone TAB Freese’s drumming on the twat outro so he could record it note for note. That’s not easy!

"We're just playing the songs we're not considering putting out as singles or anything. So, you'll get 18 songs, and about 10 extra tracks." (Axl, Docklands, 08/26/02)
Fast forward 6 years later the lead single is Chinese Democracy.

Who cares? Can’t we focus on The General?!
Great we finally have shit to talk about though.

It also rained fucking buckets for a good portion of the show. Made for a cool yet somehow also miserable experience.

Have a blast! Give us a recap when you’re done!
Imagine if you get “The General”!
No The General fuck this band!!!
Jk. Show was amazing. They’ll always get my money because 1) they are my favorite band and 2) it’s a night away from the wife and kids!!
I do regret shelling out face value for the tickets because they could have been had for a song day of the show. I mentioned I was impressed by the crowd and I still am. After the packed house in Fenway in 21, I was worried it would be a little depressing to look around and see tranches of emptiness. That wasn’t the case. Pit was less crowded which was an absolute treat.
As for the band, I sense they genuinely enjoy playing with each other, and the new music definitely helps. Like, they’re finally back to being a band and not just feeling each other out to make sure it doesn’t go off the rails like much of the NITL tour felt like. It was great to see.
Axl’s vocals live are night and day from cell phone recordings. It is in no way a deterrent from the live performances. Great show.

Shouldn’t we temper our expectations because it’s a b-side?

Do people think Bucket contributed more to the band and album than Robin? Don’t get me wrong, Bucket on TWAT is phenomenal. But I always viewed bucket as a gimmick who provided some really technically driven solos that I assumed were based on Finck’s guitar leads.
But I’ll take Robin’s solo on Better any day of the week as more soulful and true to the blues sound that’s at the core of the GN’R sound.
I see your point but I believe Bucket could have easily been the lead guitarist with no Robin. Meaning, the SOD solo goes, TIL, that Better solo etc. It would also uncomplicate things for fans. One lead guy…like the band always had.

I’m actually interested in 2004. That’s when they were planning more shows and Bucket quit. I wonder how close the album was at that time because, imo, I think Axl spent the next 2 years trying to get Bucket back. And perhaps even after Ron was in the band.
Contraband came out 04 right? I’m sure Axl viewed that as his opportunity to compete but he lost the ONLY guitarist who could viably have the cachet to to keep GnR legitimate.

I like the whole track, not blown away by the solo or the edit at the start of the solo, but on the whole it sounds better than Absurd or Hardskool to me. I was surprised to find i like the drumming more than the demo too
Yeah, I think the additions were good overall
The Robin solo part was way overblown by our community. Finally got to hear it today.
I do find it funny that Slash’s contributions are *exactly* how Ron contributed to CD. Add a little lick to the chord progression to blues it up a little and take the solo.
Still like the song.
