Re: Guns N' Roses Reload With a Dependable (and nice?) Frontman

But nobody is coming out a bigger winner in this Guns reload than Axl Rose. The sins of his past as it relates to GNR have been unprofessional, inexcusable and, in some cases, outright dangerous. His reputation as one of rock 'n roll's biggest assholes was well-earned. Even after putting four performances together, the buzz in the crowd before the fifth was all about "is Axl here?" But, in 2016, from all we have seen so far, including signing on as front man for AC/DC for a European tour, Rose has evolved from the most unpredictable man in show business to the hardest-working man in show business. By all accounts, Rose has been professional, smart, creative, friendly and, most importantly, dependable.

Coachella producer Paul Tollett, largely credited as the impetus behind the GNR reunion, got what he paid for. Asked if he was pleased with what GNR delivered to his baby, Tollett says, "If I was filling out a questionnaire I would check the box that said 'exceeded my expectations.'" Further, AEG Live chairman/CEO Jay Marciano, the man who signed off on both Vegas and Coachella, tells Billboard of Guns N' Roses, "They were pros, and Axl played hurt -- but still delivered. We were thrilled to have them open our new arena in Las Vegas and have them headline the Saturday night Coachella shows."

For Live Nation's part, sources tell Billboard that sales are going exceedingly well, topping 1 million, with dates added to the route. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Not In This Lifetime Tour looks like a financial winner for all parties.

It will be the number one tour of 2016. No question.

They have definitely exceeded all expectations. Even the haters are being forced to see the light. Whining became passe. Cant bitch about set lists since they're the best they've been in 25 years. Cant bitch about a guy showing up late when he's showing up early. Cant complain about empty arenas when stadiums are packed to the rafters. Cant legitimately complain about a lineup addition when the person being replaced is a douche bag from hell.  One may wish to complain over no new music due to waiting 8 years until coming to the realization the reset button was hit once Slash walked in the door. Even TB is entering 'free pass' territory.

It would be like Roseanne Barr bitching about only getting to eat six loose meat sandwiches instead of seven. What's the point? Just kick back and enjoy those six sandwiches and realize you'll get that seventh for a midnight snack.

Fuck this article. Just because Axl Rose didn't suck the media's dick back in the day, and still doesn't, doesn't make him an asshole.

This article reeks of media, corporatist, insider-bullshit that they have been spewing on Axl for over 20 years.

Now all of the sudden, Axl Rose, the biggest heel in the history of rock, turns super babyface, comes in full Shawn Michaels finding Jesus-style and lays some sweet chin Music on the business, all of the sudden the media are Pro-Axl... but still have to roll him under the bus in the article, instead of just admitting they were FUCKING WRONG for 20 years.

Fuck this article. Fuck Billboard. Axl/Slash for President 2016.

Sure doesn't.

He's an asshole because he beat both his wives, was arrested more than 30 times, incited several riots, converted the partners who made him successful into employees, and spent 20+ of his prime years converting the greatest band of a generation into a tribute act.

Media ain't got nothing to do with it 14

Yeah... a real asshole. That must be way there's still a fan base starved in St. Louis & Montreal to see GN'R live. That must be why St. Louis fans freaked and were pissed that their show got dropped off the "Not In This Lifetime" tour leg this summer. That must be why when Axl was advised by management to fire the entire band due to drug use, he did his damndest to keep Slash & Duff employed even though they threatened the very existence of GN'R and it's future with their reckless drug & alcohol abuse...

That must be why Stephanie still hit him out for money well into the mid-90's and allegedly tried to reconnect sometime in the early 2010's

That must be why Erin started going to nuGN'R shows to mark the fuck out to him, hoping to get back into the inner circle...

That must be why after 20 years... Slash still eventually signed the 1995 agreement and became Axl's employee in 2016

'Cause he's such a dick

With Slash back, Axl won the argument.

Simple...the fans come back because he is talented....the abused women come back because of psychological issues....Slash came back for dollars and also business interests (let's be honest nu-gnr wasn't doing GNR's long term sales image any favours).....

But I'm not really anti-Axl...actually whenever he talks I kinda like him....I think if he was a regular joe and lived in my area we'd be friends...hahah....i was just playing around cos it seemed silly to me to pretend that the media only hates him because he hates them....let's be real....Axl's been his own worst enemy for decades....

The media are sucking the cocks of far worse characters than Axl Rose. It's not about that at all. It's because he hates the media. If he had played nice with them he could murder puppies like the rest and still get a good review.
