The General is an amazing song. I really enjoy the mix too, now that I've got over the clipping. (Vinyl version does sound better)
I love the backing track. That opening guitar lick plays over in over in my head. The insane drum transitions. I liked it when I first heard it but was admittedly let down from the expectations I had built up. But after probably over a hundred listens I think this may be in my top 3 Guns so he for me, even ahead of Monsters which I love. So many layers to unpeel I still hear new things each time it seems. I like how during the chorus it sounds like a chorus of deep voices singing the melody along with the strings and then Brain just rips an amazing fill and we go back to the rolling bass with that opening lick..

Monsters, great song from start to finish. Love every bit of it. My only problem now is no official release! I played the general and monsters back to back at a friend's party a couple weeks back. They thought the General was dark but fresh, everyone loves it. Mo sters came on and they instantly perked up and one buddy walked in not knowing I was playing an unreleased guns track and he said 'is this new Ozzy?' When the screaming bridge came everyone was like 'there's Axl' both songs were very well perceived.
We talked about the other 3 songs and I have to say the only songs that was a mix of opinions was Absurd, which I love.
Every NITL remake has been better than the original by far. I re listened to the Perhaps demo earlier and the new version absolutely 100% blows it out of the water.
Needless to say I think a lot of negative opinions come from expectations that we as hardcore fans needlessly put on these tracks. If we hadn't heard prior versions or quotes by drunken washed up rockstars, opinions on these tracks would probably be very different. If you read YouTube comments they are far more positive than negative, and the people I've played these songs to ranging from early 20 year olds to my uncle in his 50s, everyone liked them. No one complained about the Hardskool mix or the Perhaps solo lol.

The thing is, Axl WOULD blow Neil of the stage. I bet he tries even harder just because  it's Motley/Neil..
I would go to a Guns/Crew tour but I think they could do much better.

I wish they could do some interviews. Don't have to talk about anything important, just the old days or whatever.

I am REALLY hoping part of the reason we haven't got any good interviews as a collective or any detailed questions is because they are going to make a documentary similar to The History of The Eagles. I love how raw that documentary was. They could tie in footage from vault.. A documentary like that could even do well on a platform like Netflix because of the subject matter and inherent drama within.

Most likely though, no interviews about anything we want to hear because the band could implode. The closest we've got is the Brazilian interview where the guy asked him "what was it like the first time you and Slash sit together in the same room?" and Axl just ignored it.

At first I was like 'this is a demo from the locker leaks' but then I clearly heard Slash. After I heard the explanation about the bad pressings causing a delay, I 100% believe these are the bad pressing leaks. Anyone that's listened to a worn out vinyl could hear the resemblance with this leak. Similar to a worn out tape.
I predict the official version we get will have the vocals sounding a lot cleaner, with more overall clarity.
That said, I have played both tracks probably 20 + times since I got home from work. Amazing!

"One of the things Axl wanted to get off his chest was a bunch of material he’d recorded,” Slash says. “So we thought, ‘Well, that’s a good way to wet our feet.’”

I think the situation with no 'new' music and having these songs re recorded with Slash and Duff has to do with Geffen. Maybe someone else knows for sure, but I'm pretty sure Axl couldn't release any of those songs any other way because they were recorded under contract with Geffen.
So Axl has invested all this time in these songs that he really does want to get out there (as he should) and then is suppose to just forget about them? As legendary as Slash is I do wonder if it was hard for him to have Slash re record some of these songs that were 99% finished. Maybe his opinion of the material is the same as a lot of us 'man I love that Robin solo..'

Also, wasn't there a rumor that GnR still has to release one more album to fulfill a contract? Im starting to believe the whole 'the record company is delaying the release, trying to force a reunion' stuff...
So I expect we will be getting a full length album of Chinese leftovers, and hopefully we are getting close to that.
Either way, CD leftovers or new, I'm just glad to hear new GnR songs. All of which I love so far.

Seems Caram is no longer with the band? Does anyone know for sure? Could be reason for the delays...
Wouldn't blame him if he left, could you imagine re mixing and mastering the SAME handful of songs for 20+ years!

#7 Re: Guns N' Roses » If GNR releases nothing in 2023, is this the end for you? » 53 weeks ago

I don't believe Axl has ran out of the creativeness that wrote songs of the past. He didn't want to undermine GnR by doing something solo but also did not want to deal with the criticism of releasing new music with new GnR.
Now I think the issue may be that they reunited for the money and one party or both still has feelings about the past can't get together and write.

I also can't imagine it is easy for Axl to re record these (cd2) songs for the umpteenth time when he likely already had an older version he likes more..

My wife wanted to get me tickets to the Chicago show for my birthday and I told her don't waste your money. If they don't release these songs soon I'm not going to bother watching the same show I seen in 2017, this time with no pyro and Axls shot voice. We will see the week of if I feel like it and we will get tickets day of. I did that in 2017 as well when they played the Bradley Center and got great seats for 62 bucks!
The ONLY thing that would make me buy tickets early would be new music. Not just one song either. If you have 4 songs just release them there is no allure to this piecemeal bullshit.

It's probably nothing, but I don't think they would do this to promote a tour that's not in the US.
If there is anything to be announced along with this, I imagine we would hear by Sunday.
I don't think they did this to promote a tour or merch, there has to be a reason.
