I'd love to hear their version of monsters. That lead guitar on the Vienna clip sounds about as epic as it gets. Soothsayer vibes.

I really want to hear the part right before the solo, where it sounds like most of the music stops and Axl repeats the chorus again. Shame that didn't make it to the final version.

Harmon, me too.  But are you sure you heard an epic solo on the Vienna clip? All I heard was a rather simple solo I always thought was played by Finck.

AgesOfTheIce, you are correct. A vocal section was omitted, but I'm not 100% sure it was Axl repeating the chorus.

Hi Rodger2023. Really cool stuff! I think it works a bit better for Fall To Pieces than It's Not Over, but both are very interesting takes. If you or anyone else with some AI skills would be willing to chat about the software and the process involved, please send me a PM.

I can't find a video clip, but it seems to be from "For a Few Dollars More", with Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef.

Here's a link to the script:

When you open the page, search for "didn't waste a minute coming here", and you'll find the quote about 1/3 of the way down the page.

Vocals are center-channel on both tracks, so they can be mostly-isolated. They are very clear on Monsters. On The General, they are about 60% clear, going into effect-mode in the "My only regret" and "Of those who" sections. I think that was intentional, and clear lyrics aren't meant to be heard. Could be wrong.

I got most things wrong with the rebuild, but am pleased with what I thought I heard of the vocal melody. Playing one on top of the other, the screaming section almost kinda sorta sounds almost sorta similar. Almost.

Glad these are out. Hopefully my anxiety level will return to normal.

Is anyone expecting the general tomorrow?

Likely around Oct 6. for the Power Trip Festival

Playing with Maiden, GNR should be contractually obligated to dust off the 1988 version of "It Tastes Good, Don't It".

If they were to drop a previously unknown 1988 studio version of ITGDI (with Izzy and Steven) and a full version of The General in short succession, I'd have no choice but to become a fan of this band again.

That's because he's not a perfectionist.

I suspect he may actually still consider himself one, but may no longer capable of being one for at least this one reason... The dude has been center-stage for more combined hours of insanely loud rock concerts than the rest of us have collectively attended. How great could his hearing be at this point? What he hears and what is actually there may be two completely different things, and odds are he wouldn't even recognize it if they are.

Remember his 2002 comment about the album potentially being 18 tracks and 10 B sides? These three recent releases would belong in that group of 10.

Is it possible that the extra 10 tracks Axl mentioned were actually the CD remixes like Blood in the Water, Better Gone, etc? How many of those were there?

To add: Apparently a Chicago DJ mentioned a new GNR track next week. If already mentioned here, sorry for the repeat.

There may not be money in the 2002 lineup touring. But I'll tell you what there could be money in, a one off small scale festival where bands connected to the band play.

LA.Guns
Gilby
Loaded
Tommy Stinson
Buckethead with Brain
Slash
Bumblefoot
Adler

and with all making guest spots on other people's sets. It would be great to see former members playing together that never did. Gilby making a guest spot with Adler doing a YCBM cover. Traci and Slash on stage playing a stones cover or something. Would be fire. This is all fantasy booking though

How about adding GNR as the headliner to that, and make it like a 8 hour event, where Axl just pops in when he feels like participating? Imagine the insane setlist going from Soothsayer to Slash, to GNR, to Bumblefoot, then a little LA. Guns, then more GNR (featuring X, Y and/or Z), etc (for hours), and then capping the show with an encore featuring everybody playing together. It'd be glorious madness to see Bucket, Bumble, Finck, Slash, Tommy, Duff, Adler, Brain, etc all jamming together on one giant stage, with all grudges from the past flushed down the toilet where they belong.

Hardskool/Absurd are radically different songs in their released state to the versions from yesteryear.

I'd be willing to bet the concensus (if we ever heard a 2002-2006 version) would be that it would be superior.

The modern Perhaps is growing on me, but I'm still not keen on that solo tbh.

Absurd I think is bad and HardSkool doesn't do it for me either.

Agreed on all points. The beginnings of the Perhaps and HardSkool guitar solos actually sound reeeeaaaaalllly bad to my ears, and what they did to the entirety of Absurd just makes no sense to me at all.

Kinda crazy with your history of working on this that they never gave it to you just out of curiosity to see how much you could improve it.

Maybe they thought I got everything wrong. They wouldn't be the only one. Even my most trusted advisor thought I was losing my mind with some things I thought I heard in the clip (like Axl speaking before the screaming verse).

Anyway, the gatekeeper of the extended clip said there really wasn't much of the song that could be heard - suggesting that the rest of the file was worse than what we already have. If that's the case, I really don't know if I'd have the same patience with it as I had years ago. But if they feel like sending it to me, I'll be more than happy to evaluate it.
