#3731 Re: Guns N' Roses » Here's all the important DJ Ashba answers from the chat » 815 weeks ago
it was only this year ron started diverting questions about the business side of Guns - it was because of something he said in his interview on here (i think) (about finances) being initially misconstrued that it seemed to be the straw that broke the camels back. and i actually think what he said was first taken out of context on here, at least from what i could ascertain from my lurking in the gnrweb.. my point is it's the fans' fault ron started putting some distance between us and him, and that he was never anything but super cool to the fans.
granted, he has always been timid with regards confirming news, but at least he talks to us - the only time we've heard from tommy over all these years was when billboard phoned him to verify some of the answers they couldn't understand from axl's incoherant rambling. we never heard from robin, as for bucket talking to anyone you must be joking. paul huge? fortus? ron's been the only link the fans have had to gnr for a long time, man.

40 new gnr songs?
no, just 40 gnr songs.
wouldn't be comfortable jumping to conclusions about how cool this guy is for Guns, is not the first and only chat he's done where he's answered a good few Guns questions? given the attention Bumble has given the fans since joining the band i think it's a little unfair to bitch about him these days.
i'm also looking forward to TiL live. i actually really love Robins solo on the record and am a little sad he will never get to play it live. (but then you wonder how much of the solo he really wrote and how much of it was piece together, a la the Stardust solo which he was never able to replicate perfectly live). hope DJ knocks it out of the park, epic like slash on the piano on nov rain kinda shit.
if this tour does hit the ground running and avoids any major trauma's, i believe strongly there is potential for Guns to re-blow minds. i'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out. interesting talk from dj.
(i don't think we'll see all 40 songs played, and it'll probably be a relatively settled setlist, but if things go well...)
(anyone actually heard any Beautiful Creatures? i'm sure there's been talk on them on here before, but i'm only thinking about it now and i'm not near the search button.. well i am as near to it as i ever am, but i'm writing this message and can't move to it..)
#3733 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR tour dates in Canada? » 816 weeks ago
I maintain that I don't care where they're playing. I'm going to see them. There's a high chance I'm going to enjoy the fuck out of the show and that's all I care about.
aside from that i care about where they're playing (i live in ireland n the furtherest i'll be travelling is to europe mainland) i agree 100%. i'm hopeful of a tour and will be disappointed if it doesn't materialise but so what if it doesn't, know what i mean? hopefully... but...

hey, thx.

yea that's one of the most critical and cryptic lines on the album.
i think it MIGHT refer to the fans, like people believed Slash's interviews with the press about how shitty axl was to him while slash was killing himself & a few others with dope. like some of the fans stuck with some members of the band that were never going to write songs that fulfilled axl's gnr ambition because they were too busy living rock n roll lifestyle.
but it might not refer to that at all. it's a weird lyric. i'm pretty sure the song is aimed at the fans, "ask yourself..." is pretty apparent, but that "when you should have turned..." is as bewildering and inconclusive as axl has ever been.
#3736 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba says GNR rehearses again!! » 821 weeks ago
i care. greatly as a matter of fact.
axl is far & away my favourite vocalist in rock (rjd or kurt would be a distant 2nd for those keeping score) & his performance over Chinese i find the most exciting and intense vocals since, probably, Appetite. for me his voice is as integral as the guitars or lyrics. frankly, i don't think he's done himself justice in the last few tours. he hasn't even been as 'consistent' s during the Illusions tour.
i don't think his age is an excuse - he can deliver the songs when in the mood, or form or condition, to do so. granted sometimes the problem is that he tries so hard, but if he was better prepared it wouldn't be such a struggle for him.
i mean in that infamous Albany rant he talks of Slash nDuff not being able to take Guns to that 'level', well in my opinion Axl has only succeeded in taking Guns-post-Slash to that level in the studio and intermittently live - he's just too inconsistant a singer lately. (and yes i realise the depth of Axls inconsistency live, but i'm referring specifically to his singing, from song-to-song, night-to-night)

hope axl rehearses. i doubt it though. never has. at the very least i hope he's been getting himself fit enough for the shows. last time his voice wasn't great, especially on stuff like the Na-Na's on Better where he was just too out of breath to get through or hold them properly - if tommy or one of the players had a more melodious singing tone then they could take responsibility but i don't think thats a possibility. there's definite room for polish in the GnR show and i reckon practice could just about make perfect. it is axl that has been the weak link live last couple of tours...
#3738 Re: Guns N' Roses » How far for GNR? » 821 weeks ago
i'd go as far as i could afford. i live in ireland so am hoping for another UK tour. last time i went to roskilde festival (denmark) & the irish rds show but this time i'd prefer to see them in an arena. if there was a UK tour, or even those warm-up 'club' shows, i'd go to as many as i could.
ideally, old band or new band, i'd like to attend EVERY Guns concert.
#3739 Re: Guns N' Roses » Give Tommy Stinson thanks » 822 weeks ago
nah tommy's more than a hired hand at this stage. he's been a gunner for longer than most of the 'original' memebers - or rather longer than most of the appetite band and has conducted himself like he wants to be there and believes in the project.

wow. cheers for the advice. i think i'll go with tyler & jorge, but more so tyler - tht's intense, man.
going to go to hmv today. they've had a load of BLS albums for a while now which is why i couldn't decide - if they'd had just the one or two i'd have bought them by now.
i'm a big skynrd & even bigger sabbath (sabbath are probably in my top 5 ever these days) fan so defo going to check pride & glory asap. Book of Shadows is going to be the first stop off though.
cheers guys. got my list. now all i need is some money...
