Yep, totally. He's got them all laid on on his settee, looking very pleased with himself. Hilarious.

I think the fact that Contraband debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 is ultimately a killer to Axl N Chums rather than the initial sales figures. In that respect it could be deemed a failure. The fact that a lot of fans bought more than one copy shows that interest is indeed not that magnificent. Hell theres one guy on MyGnr proudly displaying his 35 copies that he's bought. What a stellar investment! Bet he couldnt even get his Dr Pepper.

People will say though 'Oh VR had the curiosity factor', but I'd imagine that CD has a lot more curiousity and expectation having been a myth for so many years. 'Oh but it had no promotion!' Yes it did, its had the myth,  the  the GNR name, multiple tours, Dr Pepper etc etc. Every mention, article or jab over the years at CD has been promotion really - whether it be good or bad. Everyone knew about this album. Its just a shame that Axl and his cronies have spent so much time bitching about old members, fans, filing lawsuits etc etc instead of talking about the album.

The sad truth overall is that the final product doesnt live up to that myth in any way and the harsh reality is that its just not as good as it couldve been. Thats why it hasnt sold as many as everyone thought it would.

People know my views on New Gnr so I wont bother with that. Theres a few good songs on the album, nothing 'earth shattering' by any means. Theres also a lot of cringeworthy moments that make me skip songs and refuse to play it to other people. I dont like Scott Weiland particularly, and I didnt think Libertad was that great but in the grand scheme of things I honestly think that Contraband is a fresher, more solid album all over.

Kudos to Bono for starting the thread.

I'm of a similiar same state of mind and not in the least bit interested in funding the "GNR Family". When the hangers-on have fucked off I'll buy the album.

If being a fan means putting up with more of the same shit which we've all become accustomed to I'll join the line of "fake fans" right behind Buzzsaw and Bono.

Fuck GNR 9

Well, that isn't the line I was hoping to lead, but hey, if I got guys like you and Bono behind me, what can go wrong?

Same here pretty much!

Following the Axl debacle has just become a bad obsession that I cant seem to kick. Its just too funny at times.

^ Just noticed that on the official site. The old store URL is still active.

Yay, some new Chinese Democracy candles I hope. Or a Robin endorsed and branded trash bag.

On the bright side, Youth and Young Manhood is a great album.

Yes thats an awesome album, didnt really like the new one at all but thats besides the point.

I said on the old site that Axl wouldnt get another penny of my money for dicking us around for so many years. He cancelled the European tour I had tickets for because 'he didnt know about it'. For making us wait 2.5 hours in the Hammersmith Apollo until my girlfriend pretty much passed out from heatstroke. For employing a man with a wobbly keyboard. For the years of turning the GNR name into a sad punchline. For allowing his yes muppets to behave like schoolyard idiots that hate on the fans and former members,  and for spending such an absurd amount of time to put out an album that has sub par nonsense like Scraped on it.

He wont get anymore money from me and I wont be buying his album as I just dont think it cuts it and for all of the above reasons. If Santa gives me the vinyl for Xmas though thats ok I guess..... 16 I need a new rolling mat.

However, I'm stuffed if theres a reunion, I guess I'd have to sell my vinyl copy of CD for one 5th of the ticket price so my proceeds from Axl's album can cover the part of the ticket I'd have otherwise paid to see him. A dilemma......

Its hard to wonder why some of us still follow the band. Sometimes I dont even know why myself! I guess because GNR were the last ultimate rock band that kicked my ass and helped shaped my life in difficult and strange times. I keep hoping for them to come back and do it again. But thats never going to happen, I'll just end up with piano power ballads and guitar solos that sound like Ron accidentally dropped his guitar down the stairs after plugging it in.

That whole issue of putting up that infuriating fucking review on the home page has irked me even more. Thats typical disgusting behaviour from the pathetic crew that surround the equally pathetic Axl. He and they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

In the pub last night my mates were wanting to hear it so the barman who we know stuck it on. There were laughs and halfway through Better it got turned off and Lies was put on instead. The general consensus was that it was a pile of shit, so everyone spent the rest of the night rocking out to old GNR instead. And this is coming from guys who listen to old GNR regularly and were massive fans back way back when. Most people I know wont give it the time of day, even after being bombarded with the CD single on Radio 1.

I think Newsnight Review is more of a debate than an actual review, not sure though. I'll definitely check it out.

Sure it's fun, but history suggests it won't happen. The only rumor like this to come true was 02 VMAs. Every year since we had the same rumor for basically the VMAs, AMA's and once even the Oscars I think. Probably the Billboard awards every year too.

This could have legs though being as its the day the album is out and would certainly be a very clever idea by GNR.

Does anyone think that the rumor of Tyler/Perry presenting them reeks of bs?

Tyler - 'Ok heres a band that we toured with back in the day, a band that wrote one of the classic rock n roll albums of all time Appetite for Destruction, we are great friends with these guys, Slash, Duff, Izzy and have been for years..... here they are!!! Theyre back!!! Its Guns N Fucking Roses....!!!!'

Perry - 'Hey! Who are those guys?' Izzy's nose cant have got that big since giving up cocaine'.

Tyler - 'Damn that is big, what a waste'

I think Aerosmith have too much history and friendship with the real GNR to essentialy give the finger to their old buddies that are no longer there. Any opinions?

Excuse me dick breath but you obviously mean old gnr!

Someones got a little bit of that famed Gallagher aggro....

My opinion, deal with it.
