#6181 Re: The Sunset Strip » Most Recent Movie You've Seen » 940 weeks ago
I watched a movie last night called Wonderland starring Val Kilmer.
I've wanted to see that for a while now. I read that the drug deal scene in Boogie Nights was based off an event in John Holmes' life when it started to go downhill. It then said this movie was also based on his life, more directly.
I watched 'Go' over the weekend. That's a great movie. One of the best drug themed movies of all time. I was surprised how young Katie Holmes looks in it, it's been a while since I've seen it, but she looked 16 or 17. A great ensemble cast too.

Oh please... Anyone who locks their own daughter up in a basement for 24 years and has sex with her is obviously nuts. Doesn't mean they shouldn't goto prison for life. Did anyone see footage of this guy on the beach (Thailand or something). He seemed pretty f'ing normal having a jolly old time. Parties over now!

I'm glad to see Philly is playing Pittsburgh. It'll be a tough series, but cool to match up against Crosby & Malkin to see how good they are. Can't beleive they're only like 20.

I think what is going to hurt the Skins more than anything is the total overhaul of the coaching staff. The players wanted Gregg Williams, and they go and hire a guy who has never even been a coordinator. He was a friggin quarterbacks coach. The guy, in his introductory press conference, didnt even know the teams colors!
Good point, I forgot about that. Wash made a huge mistake (again, due to the owner) by not replacing Gibbs with Gregg Williams. I don't know how great he would be, but he sure deserved it & the players wanted him. It was the logical choice. Plus, not that moneys the issue, but there was a clause in his contract that Williams would get $1 million if he did not rec'v the job when Gibbs retired. They paid him NOT to be the coach.
Yeah, GA tore Brennan up. It was an embarrasment. Ashame GA didn't play for the championship, probably was the best team. We'll see about Brennan, for a 6th rounder, he was worth taking. Alot of teams without QB's & backups probably should have went for it in the 5th. What are you really losing??

They are both good WRs, but I still think Washington is a mess.
Easy for you to say when you just won the Super Bowl. Try going 8-8 & missing the playoffs.
On paper right now Eagles might be 4th in the Division. Hopefully DeSean Jackson is an absolute stud on returns. We need big things from him on Day 1.
Funny how far Colt Brennan fell (I think he was like a 6th rounder). I'tll be interesting to see if his name is ever mentioned or if he ever plays in the NFL. That loss against Georgia finished him. Regardless of his combine, had he won that game, and played fairly well, he would have been at least a second rounder. Crazy how 1 game can shape someones future.

and dont pull the quality of quantity bullshit...because the quality of nothing is Zero
I agree with you there. And VR, like them or not, wasn't bad. I'd much rather have had their collection than a few unauthorized leaks.

^^ I wonder if this guy knows what a whirlwind he's gonna create in the GnR fanworld with that "per-song-digital-download" statement. By Monday it'll be posted on all the boards.
Good work War!

I agree the VW thing was kinda lame, but at the same time Axl did a deal with Harley. I don't mind GH, even Eddie Vedder was somehow on that, and anyone who'd call PJ "mainstream sellouts" would be off their rocker. Let alone Metallica, Slayer & others that are on there. But if you include that, Axl lent his voice to a game also. I'll give you Black Death Vodka also, because he was always known for his JD shirts & bottles.
I admit he's been a bit of a sellout, but I'm not upset with him over it. He's got kids to feed.
I'd guess sometimes his manager sets him up with these things, and as he gets older he less & less feels like fighting it & saying 'No'. So he's just going along with it. I don't think he's calling his agent "Hey, did I get that VW gig??"

to me its like comapring Kirk Hammett and Jerry Cantrell
both guys are fantastic talents but both are at opposite ends of the spectrum..
Fair point, but personally I feel that also is an arguement that can be made. Personally I'd go with Kirk due to his extensive (and great) collection. Although I'm not sure what & how much he writes vs. Hetfield. But Cantrell is great also, myb better I guess. But I'd say neither one is out of the others league.
Is Slash better than Thayill, yeah maybe. Do I like Thayill alot & think he was also great, yeah. Also, you do have to admit adding him into ANY Supergroup immediately would have given it credibility. Imagine, Kim Thayill and Zach De La Rocha. Immediately you already would have had a Supergroup, regardless of who else is in it.
