I understand the Stephanie thing, but why would he be so upset over Slash?  It's not like they were ever really close by any account I've ever scene.  I would think he'd be more hurt by Izzy leaving than Slash, and he made up with Izzy.

I think Slash leaving more or less represents the end of the original band. On a personal level, and even professional/songwriting level, Izzy probably had a bigger impact. But the band played on, and toured sucessfully. But Then they couldn't write as a cohesive unit, and when Slash left, it was symbolic that it was over for the old band.

Madagas I agree with your post about the breakup. Also as for the Snakepit album & Axl rejecting it, I think part of the differences were larger than Slash liking it as is, Axl not. I think Slash knew they'd be entering a pattern of writing, re-writing, taking this part, adding a new part, redoing the solo etc etc (a la UYI & CD) and he didn't want to enter into that. He probably wanted to get an album out soon (ie 94 or 95) whereas Axl didn't care when it was out or how long they'd be in the studio, just so long as it was great. They certainly differ in opinions that way, look at Slash with Snakepit & VR, vs Nu-GnR.

#6763 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy starts - never? » 965 weeks ago

Geeez, I remember in 2006 specific threads about

A. Axl possibly ditching the "Chinese Democracy" title
B. A Trilogy release, spaced out over 9mo's - 1 year apart
C. An April/possible May release of "next year" (ie. back then it was for 2007)

It's like the same shit just regurgitated into 1 All-Inclusive post.

It's over. Done. Finito.

STP reunion by this time next year - bet on it.

I think you're right. Come the January & the bringing in of the new year this band is done.

#6765 Re: The Garden » Question about websites that show TV programs » 965 weeks ago

Wow Atari, I didn't know there were that many. Yeah, I think it was tv-links APE, which got shut down a few weeks ago. There's also www.videostored.com and http://www.fancast.com/videos

EDIT - I just checked & it looks like videostored.com was also shut down. Guess the movie studio's are being proactive & don't want to suffer DVD sales & rental losses the way cd sales tanked.

Now, if you use a little common sense and at least believe a fraction of what we have been told (the recording was done in Feb according to the band's website), then you can assume that "business issues" are what is holding up the release. Sebastian said this as well,:

I could care less about Baz or what he says about GnR or anything for that matter.

Bumble has recently expressed distaste for "major labels"

BBF put all his previous albums out on his own, independant label. Self produced and marketed. After doing this for so long, and being happy & content to do it, moving on to a big label would be frustrating. This doesn't say 1 iota about whether CD is or isn't turned in. Just speculation & reading into things too much.

YOU CAN ASSUME WITH A HIGH DEGREE OF CERTAINTY,

A. Is there such a thing as "Assuming with a high degree of certainty"??
B. Really, no you can't. You prove Baz says it's done (Did he ever say it was turned in? I'm not sure) and Mysteron says the label is holding it up.  That's all just heresay. Also, why wouldn't the band state the album is done or turned in. They wouldn't have a gag order over it. If it was going to court they would have to file a claim which would be public anyway. So why no official statement?
C. Even if it was 'The Label" holding it up, how do we know what is being discussed. Axl could want something ridiculous like renegotiate his contract, or higher royalties, or asking they forgive the $13 mil advance.

madagas wrote:

Merck Dec 15th 2006

"The record company refused to conclude the renegotiation until we were ready to hand over the finished album and refused to prepare a marketing campaign or commission video treatments until they had it in their hands. This is still their position as of this week. "

Axl dec 14th 2006
"In regard to a release date for the album itself certain minor and by that I do mean minor things and or additions as well as contract negotiations need to be completed and barring any unforeseen complications these things have now been adequately scheduled. Both the band and I along with our record company feel that this record deserves the proper setup and promotion."

Now, you have Mysteron saying the record company is holding up the release.....in other words, it probably means Axl has finished music and they are negotiating on all the various shit that has piled up over the last decade...literally millions of dollars of record company money and Gnr money.

These statements are a year old. If Axl's going to hold out on a label for over a year to have something renegotiated then that's on him, NOT the label. If I goto my boss, ask for a raise, don't get it, then stage a walkout and sit around and bitch about how it's my bosses & companies fault I don't have a job, doesn't that sound pretty stupid?!

#6767 Re: The Garden » The NFL 2007-08 Season thread » 965 weeks ago

I agree about your teams who should cash in the rest of the season & look to next year. Bengals should consider trading Housmansannah & Chad Johnson for some decent picks. Could probably get a 1st & 3rd rounder for them.  St Louis doesn't have much to look forward to, I don't think they have a young project QB or anything. Oak should just begin letting JaMarcus Russell start. Let him get some games in for this year, and hope he starts opening day. Minnesota should also let Tavarus Jackson play, see if he's talented enough to start in the NFL, if not, look to make a trade or sign a veteran QB for next season. They really need to begin preparing to be serious contenders. Also either draft a stud OL to block for Peterson his whole career, or a playmaking LB as a bookend to build a solid offfense & defense around young stud players.

Pretty self-explanatory, for years I've debated this, asked others etc. Both songs are acoustic, well written, and about girls who are down on their luck, hookers, addicts, recovering whatever... but the styles are so different. Personally, I think they're both great. Just curious to know others opinions.

Still a pretty decent read. He's the BBF of the old band, nice guy brought in out of nowhere.  I imagine he had to be stoked when he got that call back in 1991. Yeah, I don't think he'll get a call from GnR again. He filled a need, that was all.
