I dont see that he really has to do much. He can put out an album when he feels he's made something else of imortance...and there's a collection of people that will always buy it. He can do tours and theres a reasonable amount of people who will always check it out. Sure he might never become a #1 on the charts artist again, but there is a welcome place for him in music still.
That alone would be enough...but you never know when he might do a duet or other project of some kind that would gain attention. I'm thinking how cornell did that song for Casino Royale...if Axl did something like that it would be interesting.

ok, since everybody agrees he's an idiot and beating your girlfriend is bad, i have a question: if this is not the first time she's been abused by him, what the hell are you doing with him in the same car, house, etc.? why didn't she put an end to the relationship?
Some women have been abused so much in life they feel they deserve it.

well, if he two most prevelant guitarists on cd are not there to play the music live i don't know what to think.
maybe it would back axl up against the wall and the reunion would finally take place.
I doubt it. I honestly believe the only thing that would motivate axl to reunite would be a change in his personal feelings/heart towards those people combined with them reaching out to him in the same manner. And that doesnt seem like it will ever happen.
It's clear he is not affected by dollars, public pressure, fans, industry concerns and so forth on the issue.
If he could continue GNR without the original guys, its probably easier to continue new-guns with similar replacements. I dont think these events make reunions more likely, they just cause the 'dead periods' and delays and limit the overall output for GNR over the years.

I strongly believe there is more material in existance, pitman said somewhere he'd written hundreds of bits of songs (partial ideas) with Axl, we've heard the leak of that Jackie Chan thing, and know some other song titles. In addition to this, while it may not have been four albums, Baz clearly heard enough material to assume there was more than one disc, and Axl himself says he often thought of this project as a double album.
Other comments recently from Axl I didn't take to be a denial of such material but more crafted to lower any expectations of a particular time frame with refrence to its release. At this moment Axl has finally delivered to us what was anticipated - Chinese Democracy - it was clearly a long road for everyone - and I think he wants to enjoy that - and leave it at that for the moment. IF he were to make a timeframe for another album, he risks missing that window and setting up a whole new bunch of angry fans and getting back into the same situation that existed with CD. So even if he has further finished work ready to go, I'd say he'd be smart enough not to tip us off to expect it at anything other than pretty late stages in the development. Look at how its starting to happen again - people are getting pissy that we didn't get a video after it was mentioned. Then we wonder why he doesnt talk much - if i were him I wouldn't say a lot either.
Anyway...I'm sure there are more songs from everything thats been said. And I'm hopeful that one day they will be released, and while as a fan of course i'm 'waiting' for that - I'm also not currently expecting anything to happen in any sort of time frame this time around. "Another" above thinks 2010 is pessimism...I'd actually consider that fast. It would be what 18 months from the last album - which is more than reasonable...and it only gives this year for tours and stuff that may want to happen first. With GNR anything is possible, but for me I'm just assuming it will be at least a few years before the next record, but of course its all just opinion and guess work!

I'm calling fake. The first 2 minutes are the same repeating melody. I highly doubt that.
Agreeded...although bucket often uses a repeating melody like that to shred over. Like the huge solo in nottingham lace is all over a very similar looped riff.
I'd fotgoten how cool the checkmate clip sounds. I'm looking forward to the second half of the 'double album' one day

I'll be interested to check this out. You have to be in the mood for QT movies, and sure, he rips off a lot of stuff from other cinema, but its much like the use of sampling in rap, he takes things and puts his own spin on them, whatever he is, he is good at what he does, and makes a film that movie nerds like me can enjoy as a rule....I worry that the bloodlust and torture porn fetishes will have gone to new extremes on this movie...but aside from that...I expect it will still be a pretty good watch.
