I don't think much dramatic media wise will happen, but then I wouldn't know if sommething was planned.
I'm hopfull for a 2009 tour (seems plausable) or 2010 tour and to hear more of the new songs live. If that happens I only hope there's some apperances that are pro-shot - like at a festival or something. Imagine a pro-shot live video of TWAT or Shackler's or something...i'd really be into that.
In the longer term I'm looking forward to hearing the second half of the 'double album' type thing. Right now is enjoying these songs being out in the public and listening to the new material and hopefully seeing some of it live, but then, as with any artist, I'll start looking forward to new music. But I don't have a time frame in mind for when that will happen cos i imagine some wait will be involved.
#8222 Re: The Garden » New Years Resolutions for 2009 » 906 weeks ago
I always stick to mine as much as possible, but I choose things it was time to do anyway in my life and not just because of the day.
My 2008 resolutions were:
1. Only eat Junk Food on xmas day, my birthday and easter day. (This is because I have an addiction to junk food. I've got myself slim again this way but my brain can't understand moderation, if I allow myself more than this I end up morbidly obese in half a month). People told me it couldn't be done and I did it.
2. Play some live shows with my band. (Sadly this resolution got missed as we had to fire a member of the band. He was replaced but not in time to gig)
3. Excerise (I walked 5km per day 6 days a week)
4. Get a girlfriend. (I'd been single for 5 years at the start of 2008 and was over it. Did this. She dumped me about 2 weeks ago after 6 months and with no warning but it was nice to know relationships are possible in my world)
5. Record some songs with my band (we put down a 2 track demo)
6. Figure out what to do with my life. (Back in 2004 my father died, and I'd lost a sence of what the hell to do with my life and had spent 4 years just working trash jobs with no plan. Decided what I want to do...which is try and actually work in an area i'm interested in, sat some tests, and have now been accepted in 2009 back to college to do courses designed to get me work in the business side of the music industry. Orginising tours, promotions, atrist managment, legal stuff etc.)
So overall I was pleased with 2008's resolutions.
My Plan for 2009 is:
1 Continue eating as per last year.
2.Continue walking 5km at least 6 days a week
3. Practise my guitar each and every day. Real practise not just fun playing.
4. Play a live show or shows with my band.
5. Date more / get into a healthy relationshp. (whichever comes first
)
6. Challange myself to be the kickass person I can be and not the scared little girl the people around me want to make me into. IE: Don't let fear dictate my actions.
#8223 Re: The Garden » Anyone else losing interest? » 906 weeks ago
I think it's just because now we have the album, the wait is over and in the current absence of a tour, there isn't much for us to obsess over. The nature of what it is to be a fan of this band has shifted....it used to be about a potential album etc etc
When it comes down to it however, this album, these songs, have been incredibily influential in my life, both in the waiting, listening to the gestation over various leaks, and in the final product which personally I really enjoy and means a lot to me.
So i'm looking forward to hear more of the CD songs played live when a tour eventually happens.
And athough I don't anticipate anything happening in the short to medium term, I'm very interested to hear any other new music that may one day be released from Axl, as CD along with his back cataloge demostrate to me he is always going to be an artist who'se works will resonate with me.

that guy's a perv. i hope he goes to jail. what if he has vd or something? sick.
I'm guessing if his sexuality has been reduced to sneakly rubbing one out in someone's beverage then he probably doesn't get enough regular sex to have contracted an STD. It's long-term forced abstance that makes people get stupid ideas like this I think.
#8225 Re: Guns N' Roses » LARS ULRICH Holding Up Release of GNR 'Better' Video? » 906 weeks ago
When Axl popped up to chat a few weeks ago, I found the timing curious. At that time CD had sold poorly and he was getting criticized for not promoting the thing at all. After he chatted on the forums, the subject went from disapointing cd sales to a rehash of topics involving Old Gnr. He had effectively changed the topic.
Maybe he's just trying to connect with the fans. I mean he clearly reads the forums...he knows a chunk of them have been pissed at him for years. He couldn't really fix that without the album being out because we all know 90% of us were shat off waiting for the album still. So i'd expect that when the album came out he was thinking the fans would be all cool. But then we started complaining about the lack of interviews and stuff. So he came on to chat. To be fair a lot of people asked him shit about the old band and complained we'd never heard his side of the story, and he must have been reading posts about the name dispute for years. I feel like this time we got what we wanted...we wanted the album, we got it, we wanted him to talk, we got that.
I'm not going to bash fernando cos i've never met or spoken to the man, even online. However I will say this strikes me as a strange thing to do, like name Lars as the cause of the delay, then recant his words. Did he not expect that outcome? It's not like people don't know who he is or don't realise he is in a position to have inside information. Surely he should realise if he says something like that it makes a media storm. And then to say it was a joke. Perhaps its some kind of inside joke between Axl and Lars or somethign that makes sence to their friendship - because to an outsider fan like me I don't understand why its funny. But then I didn't really understand Rex's "I hit my woman" joke last week either. So maybe i'm just a humourless fuck! Or maybe it was some kind of "we'll see how fast bullshit spreds" bet or joke in the GNR camp just to have a lend of the media. I dunno. So i'll I will say is that the whole incident seems very strange. And I'd hope things of this nature don't keep happening too often as in my opinion this kind of confusion doesn't do any good for the band's public image.
#8226 Re: The Sunset Strip » The BATMAN Thread » 907 weeks ago
there are several things I don't think should be fucked with. One is you don't kill the Joker. Burton did it, dammit. Two is you don't make the Joker the same person who killed Batman's parents.
I agree 1000% with this. I love the 89 movie for other reasons - like the set design and stuff...but the story line was intollerable!

Can we all just take a chill pill guys?
I think Neemo was on to something here:
dr_love has always been a cool dude so this was a bit outta character for him...but when he comes back all is cool as far as I'm concerned
The way i see it was RF was making a rant...in the rant thread...he was sharing his opinion...in a wound up way which is afterall kind of the idea here...Dr Love took offence....as he took RF's comments personally. He was in a bad mood...and reacted badly....james called him on it.....he was still pissed and took that badly too. RF started trying to annoy him more. Everyone else (including me) chimed in on forum politics. Now it's snowballed out of control.
But the reality is....appart from this instance and it seems this issue...DR love is a good poster here who contributes to a number of threads with interest.
I think he got the message....don't insult people...can't we just give him back his account...and agree that everyone acted a little hot under the collar and move on...if insults and whatever continue then start banning again...but it seems to me that it was a one off disapgreement that's now being dragged on for pages...
Besides...I want to get back to a real
topic....like my girlfriend walking out...LMAO.....
#8228 Re: The Sunset Strip » Warner Music Group Pulls Music From YouTube » 907 weeks ago
The problem is...what happens when music and TV industries can't make enough profit to justify the costs/risks involved in production then things go bad. Either:
1. Quality of productions is lowered so as to lower produiction cost
2. Less 'risky' stuff is greenlit
3. Less content is produced.
Right now the big profits of the successes pay for the failures. Especially in films. It costs millions of dollars to make a hollywood film - yes good films can be made cheap - but in general cetrain standards of production value requre certain amounts of money to pull off. You can't make a filn like jurassic park look as good as it did without a few million.
if you are an investor - and it can not be demostrated that you are likely to get any value back for your dollars - you simply won't put the money into film.
#8229 Re: Guns N' Roses » Fortus: GNR tour should begin in late March '09 » 907 weeks ago
I thought axl's remarks on the forums definately suggested that their is potential for Robin to be back. Not that it will definately happen either way - but that the nature of their friendship/work relationship was that they hang out either for specific functions like family dinners, or when there was work to be done. Given robin had already recorded for album 2, him being in NIN wasn't a problem for GNR. At least that's the impression i had from what dexter posted. maybe I missunderstood though.
Anyway...a world tour will be awesome. Hope they come down under!!

Just to give the 2c of another forum user...
What Flaggs wrote would of course be offensive to those who are close to teachers, however, this is a thread where people are supposed to be able to rant about what pisses them off, which is what he was doing.
For the record I thought some of what he said was wrong and offensive too...but that's the nature of this thread. The problem Dr_love is that you have attacked the speaker rather than his argument.
Flaggs may or may not be wrong, but he was within the rules of this place by not directly insulting another member. Yes he had views about a whole group of people that may or may not be right. But he didn't name people on the board and insult them directly. If you don't like what he wrote - by all means write back and explain why he is wrong, or misguided and whatever else - but you can't personally insult the man. Insult his viewpoint not him.
