Yeah I cant really imagine a scenario where he comes back. Just because two slots are open isn't a reason.

If he was coming back, it would have been right before the Hammerstein shows in 2006. Doing it in 2015 makes no sense. He did his job in 2000-04. Not his fault its rotting in a vault.

Why would he? Brain talked about the verbal abuse Bucket got from Guns lawyers.

Brain wrote:

Aw man, the letters he would get from the [GNR] lawyers, because he would just wear them out so much. 'You'll never work again, you'll work in a gas station before you'll pick up a guitar again!' Because, they'd try to call him and Looney Tunes would come on the answering machine. And there's a huge tour coming on...

That, the endless re-recording, Axl being aloof, etc. Everything points out to Bucket soldiering through the process as long as he could, because he genuinely liked being in Guns, artistically (and the pay was prolly lucrative). But the nonsense made him rebellious, watching porn in a chicken coop with dog turd on the floor - it was just taking the piss, much like Brain setting his drums on the attic of the Village Studios, and tweaking the kit endlessly. Nobody was saying no to them, nobody was giving directions, so they were pushing it both out of curiosity and also, to gauge a reaction. You'd think eventually, Axl would come down on them and form an opinion. Apparently, he rarely did. All they had were studio people, managmement and a bunch of lawyers egging about.

I agree Bucket is not coming back, just based on what Axl has been pushing since 2009. Image-wise, Bucket doesn't fit. He barely fit in the funky bunch, that was the 2001-02 band.

But at the same time, I wouldn't be shocked if he did. With how much he's recorded, his stack of medical bills... GN'R is a nice paycheck. Easy money. Even he has to know that. And it's obvious Axl & GN'R fans miss him. Diehards maybe, but they do miss him.

I'd hate to see Bucket up there doing Whole Lotta Rosie. If Bucket returns, i'd hope GN'R got a visual makeover. Not 2001-02, but maybe GN'R as a 2015-version of Sisters of Mercy would be cool.

You mean Axl shaving his head and touring with Bucket and Fortus, with the rest of the band (bass, synth & drums) replaced by a drum machine?

Don't get me wrong, I dig the Sisters 9

Bucket is so far out to lunch at this point....point out the other parts of what Brain said. Brain hasn't talked to Bucket in YEARS...and we all know Tommy isn't exactly a big Bucket supporter.

I want him back but he ain't coming...maybe Robin.

I just don't see the point anymore. It's 2015. I LOVE that 2001 lineup but reassembling it 14 years later to release a 14 year old album is off the rails on a crazy train, la la land, bat shit crazy. You're not suggesting that of course but if you bring back one that bailed, just bring them all back and I don't think anyone who jumped off the train has any plans to get back on. They know the story already. Join. Do nothing. Record. Do nothing. Go perform Jungle. Do nothing. More nothing. Bucket releases a hundred albums a year.

Had he tried getting Bucket, Finck, Brain, and even Huge right before CD's release to try to do what should have been done in 01-02 it would have made sense. Actually it would have been the logical move. Had more media outlets gave a shit, the question would have been asked right before/after CD's release.

I just wish Axl/Uni would release CD II like Trent did The Slip. Maybe not for free but just throw the damn thing out there in the middle of the night and see what happens. What's the alternative?

I wish Axl would do a lot of things à la Trent. Trent Reznor has been able to watch himself and the majority of his fan base grow older with grace and dignity, all the while remaining a relevant force and a powerful contender in the music industry. Trent is widely accepted and respected by his peers and by the music press. Axl on the other hand... lol

Furthermore, James, I've always agreed with you. That '01 lineup is one of the best bands ever assembled under any moniker. But, aside for my holding out hope of a finck return, there simply ain't no goin' back.
