The movie with the most votes will move on to "Round 4 - The Great 8". You have one day ... Vote!

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

vs.

Back to the Future (1985)

Note: Please uses the discussion and results thread to talk about the battles, results and general discussion about this GnREvolution Movie Madness II Tourney, just use the voting threads to place your votes.
Disclaimer: Do not forget to actually place your vote using the poll system. If you do not vote in the the poll then your vote will not count.
Tie Breaker Rule: I do not typically vote in the battles, as such if there is a tie at the end of the prescribed 1 day voting period then my vote will count only then to serve as the tiebreaker.

Empire Strikes Back is the better film IMO, BUT I'd rather sit down and watch Back to the Future, so that's where my vote is going.

Despite how great Empire is, I think Back To The Future is a far more accessible film to a far bigger audience.

It works on every level. Comedy, sci-fi, drama, action, gadget, family, music (soundtrack & score), acting... I mean it just clicks on every level. Anybody can watch that film. Even in 2010, a kid could pick that movie up, watch it, and still relate to everything in it, despite it being from 1985. Troubles of high school, burnout parents, what were your parents REALLY like in high school, would you like them? Great concept.

Short of Harrison Ford, I always thought the acting in all the Star Wars films was average sci-fi hokum at best.

Empire is much more of a grandiose presentation. It was really the summer movie before they knew what that was. It's not greatness, it's just legendary popcorn fun at it's finest. Godfather - it ain't.

In "GnREvolution Movie Madness II" fire represents death, when the Movie's credits roll, the movie goes up in flames, when the names are read, the decision is final and they must leave the tribal council area immediately. I'll go tally the votes.

Back To The Future bring me your torch.
