Anyone still watch ESPN or other sports channels? At some point ESPN turned into CNN. How does this channel get any ratings? I can't imagine wanting to get the latest NBA, NFL scores/highlights and instead having to hear their thoughts on abortion.

They’ve held all three branches of government TWICE recently, and hold it currently. All they have to do is pass an amendment.

I'm continually amazed at how they ALWAYS fuck things up when they are in power.   Every piece of even minor legislation becomes a chore.  Even when they have most of the popular opinion on their side, they STILL screw it up somehow.

I only watch when there is some sort of live sporting event on (usually an NFL game or college football).I don't watch any of their other shit.  Sportscenter hit a peak in the late 90s somewhere and became obselete.   I still love the Patrick-Olbermann Sportcenters from the 90s though.  The internet has basically become their worst enemy.  Want the scores?  Just go online where you can watch a 2 min clip of the highlights w/no fuss.  Them going political rubbed a lot of casual fans the wrong way, imo.  Also the sports network channels have taken a big chunk of their viewership I bet (MLB net, nfl network etc).

I'm sure I'm not the only that stomachs the live events and just turns it off after the game is done.  Oh, I remember during the early 90s when ESPN showed regional wrestling.

Right now you can have an abortion up until birth and still allow a baby to die if it survives and but delivered— the whole Virginia controversy where the governor said they’d let the baby die but keep it comfortable. No other nation in the world allows it.

That's absolute madness.

Re: Current Events Thread

This latest charade from the Select Committee just takes the cake.  Not only is their key witness not able to provide any evidence, but her claim that Trump grabbed the steering wheel of his vehicle is just outright impossible.  Feel free to lookup any image of the vehicles the Secret Service escorts the President in, and tell me how Trump could have somehow accessed anything in the driver's section, let alone the fucking wheel.  Media sites are running with it, and the people who see something they want to believe will accept it, but 10 seconds looking at a schematic tells you the claim is impossible to be true.

Another pretty woman saw her opportunity to get a book deal and do the night shows and is going for it.

I'm shocked by the fact there aren't protests against this nonsense... even from the left.

Gas is $6-$9, food is outrageous, and 300k NATO troops are on high alert....

But this is what they are focused on? I roll my eyes anytime I see it mentioned and it shows how little they actually care about what's going on.

Hell.... it's even a distraction from the abortion issue.

These people are so out of touch they might as well be living in a different galaxy.

My thing about Roe is that not everything needs to be written in the constitution. Interracial marriage does not need to be specially mentioned because it should fall under existing rights. Like saying the constitution doesn't mention an AR-15, it doesn't have to. It's on the supreme court to decide whether a state or the federal government is violating our civil rights, or if the government is using discrimination in how it applies a law. I think they got this wrong, imo. And it seems Kavanaugh was on the fence a bit. I don't think leaving it up to the states is the right move when we're talking about federally protected rights.

I think banning abortion does violate our civil rights and right to privacy. If they want to have a debate when life starts, fine. But no one really wants to have that debate.

I'm semi-serious when I say this I don't think they have any answers for the gas and food/inflation problems and they are maybe using this as a distraction.

I'm probably one of the "audience" that would listen to this but fuck it's been so long and really what's the point?  I think Trump probably had something to do with this.  But it's not like he's going off to jail or anything at the end of these hearings.

It's not important at all when you consider the inflation issues and overturning Roe v Wade (I think that one is overrated too but it's definitley more important than the Jan 6 hearings).

That's awful...and the crowd reaction is slow due to possibly believing that it's firecrackers instead of a gun.
