Don't forget that Bucket and Ron are both excellent rhythm players. I think if they shared the rhythm and lead duties there would be more than enough room for both of them on stage, and it would sound fucking phenomenal.

From Saul over at buckethead.tk;
Just one part of the reason Bucket left -
" When we did our first show in Vegas, Robin and Buckethead didn't know each other at all. You've got two lead guitar players trying to kill each other with their abilities. [...] I think they can be cordial to each other, that whole kind of thing, but when they're actually playing, it gets that kind of alpha male thing going, like 'Who's the real lead guitar player?"
Bucket was thought to be THE lead player and then days before they took the stage robin walks back into the fold like he never left. Guess who had guitar parts he worked hard on re-recorded by a FAR inferior player? That's right.
Theres more. It will all come out with time.
With Finck gone that's one less obstacle for Buckets return in GNR.

madagas wrote:Anybody who has seen Bucket on a solo tour should know how much of a better player he is than Slash....it is too obvious. You can argue about their songwriting skills and contributions to individual songs, but there is no question about who has more overall guitar playing talent. That includes Blues, Shred, Metal, Ballads, et al....acoustic/electric...doesn't matter.
I agree with the first half and disagree with the second. Strongly. Slash beats BH in blues, classic rock and blues rock, simply because that's not BH's style and he can't control himself enough not to do 'some BH'. BH can play a lot faster, his playing is very precious, his stuff is very hard to play - but zillions of singers are better than Axl, yet I favour him for his talent, that, just like Slash's, comes from a really ancient instict. I prefer Slash's instinctive (I hope it's the right word) playing over trillion hours of practice (and a great asset of musical talent). Opinions differ.
My problem with BH isn't that he's not good enough. He is. My problem is not that he's not Slash, yet he plays in GN'R. Well, I don't like Axl's taking the name, but that's not the main problem for him. I don't think that BH wouldn't fit GN'R - to tell the truth, without him most of the new songs were unlistenably boring and uninspired. BH's crazy stuff is killer on the songs, he's the one who deserves the most credit for 'taking the songs to a whole new level'. My problem is that this level isn't too high, because the main ideas and concepts of the songs were so weak (with a few expections) that even BH's great contribution wasn't enough to make it a great album. Axl's great (with some lamer performance here and there, but it happens on past GN'R records, too), BH's great, but that's all. The guitar work in overall isn't that great, no memorable riffs, a few memorable solos, but the synths and the forced elements kill the music for me. Just fuckin' tell me, how someone with Finck's ability can play this much on a GN'R record
Listen to "Chicken Noodles II" and then tell me who's got the best blues chops

I actually don't mind him in NIN. His skills are much more suited to a powerchord rythm section. I saw NIN touring for "The Fragile" and his rhythm guitar work was excellent, but the more intricate stuff eluded him. At the GNR show in Perth, Australia last year, at least 20 people got up and walked out, I shit you not, after hearing his 'solo'.
And as for the SCOM Finck solo being 'intact' I respectfully disagree. The fast run at the start of the main solo should have been replicated but instead he dumbs it waay down so he could cope.

Good riddance Robin, you hack!

It wouldn't suprise me if Bucket returned for touring, after all Robin has left.

There is a guy who posts on another GnR forum who has contact with Bucket and his people. Earlier this year he said something along the lines of "I wouldn't wish that on Bucket" when commenting on Bucket rejoining GnR. But after the Dr. Pepper comment from Axl about sharing his Dr. Pepper with Buckethead, he said that he wouldn't rule out Bucket and Axl working together again in some capacity in the future
Do you have links to this guys qoutes?
Regarding the unpleasant experience, could this be due the fact that Bucket worked very hard on the album only to never have it officially released? I know it would really piss me off if I put so much work into something that never saw the light of day. Maybe with the release of the album his feelings may change?
#168 Re: Guns N' Roses » Did you buy Chinese Democracy single on Itunes? » 912 weeks ago
No, I refuse to pay money for lossy audio!
#169 Re: Guns N' Roses » Which is single worthy? » 912 weeks ago
I think if the album is to have a decent chance at being a hit then they need to release "Sorry" as a single pronto!

These songs were pretty much finished in 2001 and the album was slated for imminent release. I'm thinking that a video was also made back then.
