I'm not saying it isn't interesting (even though he's the worst thing to happen to GnR since Paul Huge).  I just can't believe there isn't something more exciting to discuss than this on the verge of CD's release.

My guess (as it has always been) is CD comes out and then there's a reunion.  It's the only thing that makes any sense and explains the lack of promotion, lack of news on any of the "band members", etc.  The album is being released through Best Buy to get the money upfront, contribute an album to satisfy the recording contract, and prepare for the real cash cow.

I've always said I wanted CD to come out ASAP because a reunion wouldn't happen until it did, I just never thought it would actually come out.  I think I win the free copy of CD that was offered at the old RoV site...my date is going to end up being the closest.

So CD is supposedly coming out in the next couple months and one of the two active CD threads is about pitman?  Something isn't quite right about all of this.

I never said that he hates anybody.  I do think had Axl been Anakin Skywalker, he would have been a Sith that would have put Darth Vader to shame with his anger issues.  Anger issues doesn't necessarily equal hate, but in order to hate, you must have very strong feelings.  Anger leads to hate, hate leads to fear, fear leads to the dark side (or something like that).  Axl must let go of what he fears losing.

Riki says "Axl at that time" which indicates that something changed, otherwise he'd leave the at that time part out.  That's what made his comment interesting.  Bill Armstrong didn't mention the dictator part to sell books, it's just part of who Axl is.  Shannon didn't want to talk about it anymore...one can only assume it's because he wanted the focus on him and not on Axl or what Axl did for him.  Who can blame him?  We're sitting her years after his death focused on the Axl portion of his book.

He sounds like a helluva fuckin' guy if you're his friend.

Bolded for emphasis.

Riki Rachtman: Axl at that time was always great about helping his friends out. Obviously, Axl was a very influential part in Shannon's success. And Shannon would do anything for him-just like Axl would do anything for his friends.

Bill Armstrong: I think Axl saw a little bit of himself in Shannon. Shannon definitely had some '˜Axl-like qualities.' Not as far as being a dictator or any of that kind of stuff-more along the lines of living life by the seat of his pants.

Shannon Hoon: I don't really want to talk about that any more. It seems like such a long time ago to me now, but that's all everyone seems to think about. It's not something I feel is relevant to what I'm doing now.

3 very interesting lines imo.  For a lot of different reasons.

I don't see a control freak ever saying anything like that and being serious about it.

I don't think this band would want to write a sequal to Nightrain...that would make no sense.
